Gujarat Science City
Gujarat Science City is a large science centre on Ahmedabad's north-west edge. It has galleries, an aquarium and robotics halls for a half-day visit.
What it is and its history
Gujarat Science City is a science and technology complex operated by the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology. It opened in the early 2000s on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway in Sola, on the north-west edge of Ahmedabad. The centre covers a large campus with indoor and outdoor exhibits. It was built to promote science education through interactive displays that appeal to visitors of all ages.
The complex includes a dedicated science centre building, a planetarium, an aquarium and an energy park. The robotics gallery and the hall of science are among the most popular sections. The centre also hosts temporary exhibitions and educational programmes throughout the year. The campus is well maintained, with gardens and walkways connecting the different buildings. The design encourages exploration and hands-on learning.

Arriving early helps you avoid the rush.
A half-day visit of three to four hours is enough to see the main galleries, the aquarium and the outdoor park. If you want to watch the planetarium show and the 3D film, add another hour. The centre closes in the late afternoon, so arrive by mid-morning to make the most of your time. Check the centre's website for current opening hours and show timings before your visit.
